Terms of Service
Effective Date: April 13, 2026 · Last Updated: July 14, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account on ActuBene you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not
use the app.
2. Eligibility – 18+ Only
You must be at least 18 years old to use ActuBene. Accounts found to belong to users under 18 will be
immediately and permanently suspended. Report suspected underage users to [email protected].
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
- You must not share your account with anyone else.
- You must provide accurate information and confirm that you are 18 years of age or older.
- Only verified accounts may create causes. Verification is granted at our discretion after a manual review of eligibility (and, for organisations, the information you provide), and may be revoked for misuse.
- We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Organisation Accounts
ActuBene allows companies, universities, charities, nonprofits, and other organisations to create a dedicated
Organisation Account. By creating or operating an Organisation Account you agree to the following:
- Eligibility: Organisation Accounts may only be created by or on behalf of a legitimate,
real-world organisation. Creating an Organisation Account to misrepresent a personal account as an
organisation is prohibited.
- Invite Links: Organisations may generate QR-code invite links to onboard members. You
are solely responsible for the distribution and security of those links. You must not share invite links
in a way that permits unknown or unauthorised individuals to join your network without their awareness.
- Admin Responsibility: The holder of an Organisation Account is responsible for ensuring
that members added via invite links or membership requests have consented to join and understand that
content they choose to share with the organisation will be visible within the organisation's network feed.
- Member Visibility: When a user joins an Organisation Account's network, only the posts,
deeds, and causes they create after joining — and choose to share with the organisation —
are visible to the organisation account. Members control this per item and may keep any item from the
organisation. A member's own deeds and causes do not count toward the organisation's
impact totals; the organisation's totals reflect only the activity it logs itself.
- Membership Requests: Individual users may send a membership request to an Organisation
Account. The organisation may accept or decline at its own discretion.
- Misuse: Using an Organisation Account to harvest personal data, send unsolicited
messages, or engage in any activity prohibited under section 5 (Acceptable Use) will result in immediate
account termination.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful.
- Post sexual or explicit content.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Attempt to manipulate, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform.
- Spam or send unsolicited messages, including in direct messages and group chats.
- Use group chats to harass, intimidate, or spread harmful content.
- Post false or misleading information about charitable acts, causes, or deeds.
- Create causes or log deeds that are fabricated or intended to deceive other users.
- Log volunteer hours or contributions to a cause that you did not genuinely perform. Self-reported hours are attested by you; you are responsible for their accuracy.
- Tag friends in causes or deeds without a genuine, good-faith reason for doing so.
- Use the platform for commercial solicitation without our prior written consent.
- Upload malware, viruses, or any code intended to harm the platform or its users.
6. User Content
- You retain ownership of the content you post, including posts, causes, deeds, comments, and messages.
- By posting on ActuBene you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display,
distribute, and promote your content within the app.
- Causes you create may be visible to other users, including friends you tag and users who discover them
through reshares; cause signup data (who has signed up) is visible to the cause creator.
- Deeds marked as private are visible only to you. Deeds you share publicly or with specific friends are
visible to the intended audience.
- We may remove any content that violates these Terms without prior notice.
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the content you post.
ActuBene also lets you share an image card to other apps and services (for example via "Share to other apps"
on a deed, cause, or post, or "Share" on your Month/Year of Good recap). When you use this feature:
- You choose the destination app or recipient through your device's native share sheet. You are solely responsible
for where, and with whom, you share.
- Once shared, the content leaves ActuBene and becomes subject to the terms and privacy policy of the third-party
app or service you selected. We are not responsible for how third parties use content you share with them.
- You must only share content that you own or otherwise have the right to share.
7. Impact Reports & Public Profile
You may generate an Impact Report from the Impact tab of the app. By doing so, you acknowledge that:
- A snapshot of your selected activity (causes created, deeds logged, causes joined) for the chosen period is stored on our servers and made accessible via a unique token-protected link.
- The verification page linked by that token is publicly accessible — no login is required. Only share the link with people you intend to show your impact data to.
- Verification links expire automatically after 30 days. After expiry, the link no longer works and the snapshot data is permanently deleted.
- Sign-up counts shown in reports and on verification pages are aggregate totals only. The identities of users who signed up to your causes are never disclosed in any report or on the verification page.
- You are responsible for how you share or publish your Impact Report link.
You may also optionally enable a Public Impact Profile — a permanent, always-current public web page of your impact intended for sharing (for example on a CV or LinkedIn). By enabling it, you acknowledge that:
- It is off by default, and the page is publicly accessible to anyone with the link, without logging in.
- You control which sections are shown, and the page reflects your current activity live rather than a fixed snapshot.
- You may refresh the link (which immediately invalidates the previous one) or turn the profile off (which immediately takes the page down) at any time; deleting your account also removes it.
- Verification badges indicate that an organisation or member is verified on ActuBene; volunteer hours are self-reported. You are responsible for what you choose to make public and for where you share your link, and you agree not to present the information in a false or misleading way.
- We may suspend or remove a Public Impact Profile that violates these Terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The ActuBene name, logo, and app design are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or
distribute them without our written permission.
9. Push Notifications
By registering, you consent to receive push notifications from ActuBene (e.g. new reactions, comments,
friend and membership requests, cause signups, deed tags, cause updates, and event reminders for causes
you have signed up for). You can switch individual notification types — including cause event reminders —
on or off in the app under Profile → Notification Settings. Turning a type off stops its push alerts on your
device; the notification is still recorded in your in-app Notifications tab. You can withdraw push consent
entirely at any time in your device notification settings. Event reminders stop automatically when you remove
your signup from a cause.
10. Reporting and Blocking
ActuBene provides in-app tools to report users or content you believe violates these Terms, and to block
users you do not wish to interact with. We review all reports and reserve the right to take action
(including content removal or account suspension) at our discretion. Submitting false or malicious reports
may result in action against your own account.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms,
fraudulent or illegal activity, being under 18, or circumventing a previous suspension. You may delete your
account at any time from app settings.
12. Limitation of Liability
ActuBene is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect,
incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria. Any disputes shall be subject to the
exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sofia, Bulgaria.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes
acceptance.
